The passion and dedication of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum towards both Thoroughbred and Arabian breeding and racing is second to none.

One of the most important date in this on-going journey is the year 1984, when HH Sheikh Hamdan chose to set up his breeding operation at Shadwell Estate in Norfolk and sponsored the most important Arabian race meeting of the year at Kempton Park.

Thirty five years on, these events proved the foundation stones of what is recognised today as one of the most successful and respected Arabian breeding and racing operations in the world.

From its origins in the Middle East, Arabian racing has become increasingly popular across Europe and Shadwell stallions have played an important role in breeding for this sport since the beginning.

The original UK based operation was housed at Melton Paddocks, Norfolk. From there, the high quality and popularity of the stallions offered by Shadwell meant the business of standing Arabian at stud soon expanded to become a global one.

Over the years, Arabian horses racing in the famous blue and white colours of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum have won some of the most prestigious Arabian races in the world including the Kahayla Classic eight times and all three rounds of the Al Maktoum Challenge.

Currently our racing interests are represented by a group of 60 Purebred Arabian Racehorses which race in the UK, Europe and the UAE.

From our UK base, we manage the careers of our top-class Group winning stallions; care for our private broodmare band; co-ordinate the racing of our horses across Europe and support a comprehensive schedule of race and event sponsorship in support of Arabian horse racing around the world.
