Winner of his first race in May, MURAAQIB finished second in his first attempt at Group 1 level in June in Chantilly. In Deauville, on the 15th August, MURAAQIB took his revenche and won the Group 1 PA Al Rayyan Cup (Prix Kesberoy) by 3 lengths. The home-bred 3 year-old colt is trained by François Rohaut, as was his sire MUNJIZ, and was ridden on the day by Christophe Soumillon.

MURAAQIB is out of the Shadwell home-bred mare TASHREEFAT (Bengali d'Albret) who was trained by Gill Duffield, and won 4 of her 19 starts in the UK and UAE and was placed 8 times including 2nd in the Liwa Oasis (Gr.1 PA) in Abu Dhabi. TASHREEFAT has also produced two other horses of racing age, both winners in the UK.

MURAAQIB (meaning Conductor in Arabic) was esteemed by his trainer, François Rohaut, since he arrived in his stables: "I always knew that when MURAAQIB would run over 2000m he would be very difficult to beat. He has a great temperament and an acceleration I have never seen in an Arabian. He is one of the best Arabians I have trained."

Shadwell Stud director, Richard Lancaster commented: "He is very promising and we are going to proceed step by step with him. It is a great victory as he is home-bred as was his dam. He is well bred, by a confirmed sire. His dam was a good racehorse with a lot of speed, and she only produces beautiful horses."

According to his trainer, MURAAQIB's next race could be at Saint-Cloud.
